Students in Kochi can get an education loan without collateral for abroad studies — an unsecured education loan — from private banks and education-loan NBFCs, and within their own limits from public sector banks. Nothing is pledged. The lender decides on the co-applicant's income and credit record, the university and the course, and usually caps the amount below what a secured loan allows. DreamDestination checks your eligibility free, before you apply. We are not a lender.
The first question for a student in Kochi is not "can I get a loan without collateral" but "how much can I get without it". The answer depends on who signs as co-applicant, which university has admitted you and what you are studying. If the amount falls short, the gap has to come from savings, a scholarship or security.

Who Can Get an Education Loan Without Collateral in Kochi
Unsecured education loan for abroad — what lenders check
An unsecured loan is decided on people and on prospects rather than on property. Lenders examine the co-applicant's income, credit history and current obligations; they rate the university and the course against their own lists; and they look at the student's academic record and test scores. A weakness in one of the three usually means a lower amount, not an automatic refusal.
We are an education consultancy, not a bank, NBFC or lending agent, and we take no commission from any lender. Approval, amount, interest rate and collateral requirements are always the lender's decision.
Nothing in this service needs a visit from Kochi. You share documents digitally and meet your counsellor by video call or phone, at a time that suits a student or someone in a job. The process and the person are the same as for a student in a metro.
This page is for students in Kochi with an admission or a shortlist in hand whose family has no property to pledge, or would rather not pledge it, and for the parent who will sign as co-applicant. Kochi is also searched as Cochin. The same service is available to students in Thrissur, Manjeri, Alappuzha and Wayanad, and across the rest of Kerala.
Without Collateral or With: How the Two Routes Compare
The trade is speed and safety of assets against amount and cost. Without collateral there is no valuation and no legal check, so the loan moves quickly — but lenders cap it lower and usually charge more. With collateral the ceiling rises and the rate often falls, while processing takes longer. Which suits a student in Kochi depends on the size of the funding gap.
Why Your University and Course Matter More on an Unsecured Loan
With no security, the lender's protection is your future income. So it asks how employable the course is and how it rates the university. A master's in a field with strong hiring at a well-regarded university is easier to fund without collateral than a course the lender does not know. Lists differ from lender to lender, which is why a refusal from one does not settle the question.
Documents for an Unsecured Education Loan in Kochi
There are no property papers to submit, so the income and identity documents have to be complete and consistent. Collect these before you apply:
Admission or offer letter with the full fee structure
Academic records — 10th, 12th and degree marksheets
English test / GRE / GMAT scorecards where required
KYC for student and co-applicant (ID, address, photographs)
Co-applicant income proof — salary slips or ITRs, and bank statements
A written breakdown of total cost and your own contribution
Passport, and visa documents once available
Kerala Education Loan Schemes
Students domiciled in Kerala may be able to use the Education Loan Repayment Support Scheme, administered by Government of Kerala / Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation. The state repays a reported 20% of the loan, capped around ₹1 lakh, over five years from the start of repayment, with a small one-time grant toward the first EMI. A separate interest subsidy runs for backward-community students. Eligibility: Kerala domicile; scheme-specific income and community criteria apply. Terms change, so confirm the current rules with the administering department before you rely on it.
When the unsecured limit is below what you need, do not stretch the application. Close the gap another way — a scholarship, family savings, a stronger co-applicant, security for part of the loan — or find the lender that values your university and course more highly.
