Students in Kochi going abroad for an MS can fund the degree with an education loan from a bank or NBFC, secured against property or unsecured on the strength of the co-applicant and the university. The loan can cover fees, living costs, travel and insurance for the whole programme. DreamDestination works out the full-course figure with you, compares the routes and plans the sanction around your visa, at no charge. Approval rests with the lender.
A master's abroad means one or two years of fees and living costs, and a two-year programme costs about twice as much to live through. Before comparing lenders, a student in Kochi should fix the real figure: the total for the full course, less savings, less any scholarship or assistantship.

How Much to Borrow for an MS Abroad from Kochi
Education loan for MS abroad — the full-course figure
Work out the cost of the whole programme: tuition for every term, living costs for every month, insurance, travel and visa fees. Subtract what the family can pay and any scholarship or assistantship. What remains is the loan. Borrowing for the full course in one sanction is usually cleaner than going back for a top-up in the second year.
We are an education consultancy, not a bank, NBFC or lending agent, and we take no commission from any lender. Approval, amount, interest rate and collateral requirements are always the lender's decision.
Tuition and course fees paid to the university
Accommodation and reasonable living expenses
One-way airfare and travel costs
Student health and travel insurance
Books, equipment and a laptop where the course needs one
Exam, library and lab fees; refundable deposits within lender limits
Nothing in this service needs a visit from Kochi. You share documents digitally and meet your counsellor by video call or phone, at a time that suits a student or someone in a job. The process and the person are the same as for a student in a metro.
This page is for final-year students, recent graduates and working professionals in Kochi who are applying for a master's degree abroad, and for the parents who will be co-applicants. Kochi is also searched as Cochin. The same service is available to students in Kasaragod, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam, and across the rest of Kerala.
A lender is judging how likely the degree is to lead to a job that repays the loan. It looks at how it rates the university and the course, your marks and any backlogs, your test scores where the university asks for them, and work experience if you have it. Alongside that sits the co-applicant's income and credit record, which weighs most on an unsecured loan.
MS in the USA, Germany or the UK: How the Loan Differs
The loan is shaped by the destination. In the USA the university needs proof of first-year funds before it issues the I-20. In Germany public universities charge little or no tuition, so the loan mainly funds the blocked account and living costs. In the UK most master's degrees last one year, so the whole cost falls in a single period.
The right moment is the day the offer letter and fee schedule arrive. Property-backed loans take longer because the asset has to be valued and its title checked; unsecured loans are quicker, though never instant. Aim to hold the sanction letter before the university asks for financial proof — the visa comes after that, not before.
Kerala Education Loan Schemes
Students domiciled in Kerala may be able to use the Education Loan Repayment Support Scheme, administered by Government of Kerala / Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation. The state repays a reported 20% of the loan, capped around ₹1 lakh, over five years from the start of repayment, with a small one-time grant toward the first EMI. A separate interest subsidy runs for backward-community students. Eligibility: Kerala domicile; scheme-specific income and community criteria apply. Terms change, so confirm the current rules with the administering department before you rely on it.
